  • Educational Technology Resource from George Washington University.

Product Evaluation

Questions to ask when considering a multimedia product. these were recently offered by a number of students in my Introduction to Multimedia course at Montgomery College.

  1. Does it run on my computer? Do I have enough memory, hard drive space, a sound board, video capability, an adequate processor, and a suitable CD-ROM drive?
  2. Is this a product that I can figure out how to use--or more importantly, will those using it be able able to figure it out. If possible, try to get a test drive before buying it.
  3. Is this a product that I really have a need or an interest in? Will I use it enough to get my money's worth? Is this something that I will get bored with?
  4. Is the creator/developer of the product reliable and have a good reputation for quality products? This is often a difficult question to answer - look for favorable product reviews or recommendations from those you trust.
